Digital Preservation Guides for Library Published Materials
To support the community in preserving their publications, members of LPC’s Digital Preservation Working Group have created a series of short documents intended for Library publishers to learn more about preservation and preservation services.
The steps are available in two formats: HTML and PDF.
Step Zero – Creating a Preservation Inventory
This guide will help you think broadly about all the content created by your publishing unit, whether it is available for the public or only internal, and whether it is meant to be retained for the long term or is more ephemeral.
Step One – Understanding the Preservation Landscape
This guide will help you understand what digital preservation is and how it is practiced at your institution.
Step Two – Starting a Preservation Policy for Your Publishing Program
This guide will help you create a preservation policy or work to incorporate the publishing program more fully into your library’s existing policy.
Step Three – Scope
This guide will help you combine what you now know about digital preservation and to look back at your inventory to see what should be included in your digital preservation plan.
