Georgia Southern University invites nominations and applications for the position of Discovery Services & Data Curation Librarian in the Zach S. Henderson Library. Henderson Library’s mission is to support the University by providing access to information, collections, and services designed to meet the scholarly needs of the University. In addition, the Library promotes independent lifelong learning, employs a learner-centered service ethic, and ensures a comfortable and secure study environment. The Discovery Services & Data Curation Librarian plays a leading role in improving services and demonstrating the library’s value to the academic community. 
Position Description. 
Reporting to the Head of the Collection and Resource Services Department, the Discovery Services & Data Curation Librarian (DSDC) will promote data curation in Digital Commons (the Henderson Library’s institutional repository) and other open access data repositories; manage research data sets in Digital Commons; assist faculty with data plans and structure for display in Digital Commons; serve as Library Liaison to the Office of Research; promote a service culture for technical services; manage EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) to provide maximum positive user experience; routinely communicate with faculty and staff regarding changes, additions, and improvements in EDS; develop and maintain collegial relationships with Library departments to develop strategies relating to electronic content user discovery; develop and deliver training programs on discovery platforms and electronic resources to Library faculty; work both independently and collaboratively to ensure successful user experiences with electronic resources; manage e-team troubleshooting and communicate problem resolution; monitor trends and best practices in library discovery; recommend improvements to services; work closely with Cataloging/Metadata, Continuing Resources, and Public Services Librarians & Staff; serve as a member of the Online Resources & Services Work Team; serve 2 hours per week on Information Desk; positively represent the University in professional, community, and state organizations by actively participating in professional development and continuing education; serve on Library and campus committees and actively participate in professional activities; and perform other duties as assigned. The position is a 12-month, tenure-track appointment as assistant professor, and the salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum is $40,000 per year. 
Required Qualifications: 
ALA accredited master’s degree
Experience in an academic setting
Evidence of effective organizational, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, including initiative, creativity, problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated evidence of flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced diverse team environment
Knowledge of and/or experience with metadata schema such as MARC, Dublin Core, EAD, METS, ONIX
Knowledge and/or experience with content standards including AACR2 and RDA
Experience supporting electronic resource life-cycle activities in a library
Experience with electronic resources management systems, link resolver software, discovery systems, e-resource knowledge base systems, and proxy configurations
Screening of applications begins January 12, 2015, and continues until the position is filled. The preferred position starting date is April 1, 2015.
