- Secondary: To center accessibility and best practices for documenting accessibility workflows as key components of effective publishing documentation.
Documentation Resources
- The LPC supports the development of common practices by assembling model documents for a variety of tasks.
- Library Publishing Documentation Toolkit for getting started with creating documentation.
- A list of past documentation and other community calls with links to resources.
- Model documentation of library publishing workflows.
- Tools to help library publishers create documentation and use it to reflect on and improve their practices.
History of the Program
Documentation Month was initially developed out of Shared Documentation Month in January of 2019, during which the professional development committee highlighted a shared document with LPC members each week and encouraged them to create and share their own documentation. In February of 2021, documentation month began in earnest with the release the Library Publishing Documentation Toolkit and a series of community calls hosted by the committee covering topics like accountability groups, workflow documentation, and policy documentation. Documentation month continued to evolve in 2022 and 2023 with the introduction of documentation sprints, study halls, and workshops on topics like journal publishing workflows and identifying documentation needs. For 2024, the committee hosted a series of workshops focusing on documentation and accessibility.
